Avidyne Announces Wireless Connectivity with ForeFlight

On March 15th, 2016 Avidyne Corporation announced that its ForeFlight will now have wireless connectivity capabilities. Avidyne Corporation uses integrated avionics and ADS-B Systems in order to create a general aviation aircraft app for flight planning and electronic bag for both the iPhone and iPad. The wireless connectivity capabilities will be for its IFD540/IFD440 FMS/GPS/NAV/COM models.

Avidyne’s President & CEO, Dan Schwinn, talks about the announcement.

“We are pleased to have ForeFlight as a compatible aviation application for our IFD540 and IFD440 customers.”

He also adds the type of features the model.

“ForeFlight has taken advantage of Avidyne's open-architecture wireless interface, opening up many possibilities for transferring and displaying of data in the cockpit - including mapping, flight planning and display of ADS-B weather and traffic- as we move forward.”

Tyson Weihs, co-founder and CEO of Foreflight talks about the integration with Avidyne Corporation.

“Through this integration, ForeFlight customers flying with Avidyne’s next generation navigators benefit from receiving flight plan and GPS information for the moving map display. We look forward to unlocking more function over time that makes planning, flying, and flight logging with Avidyne avionics a joy.”

ForeFlight was founded by aviation entrepreneurs in 2007 who had a dream to build a mobile app for flight services. Their flagship product, ForeFlight Mobile, is used with to view electronic charts and maps, flight publications, log flight time, and other things as well. ForeFlight mobile is used by not only professional flight crew members but also individual pilots as well.
